Hi and welcome to the website of the City of Sheffield Saints Basketball Club. Part of the City of Sheffield Basketball Club (COSBBC), the Saints is a brand new men’s basketball team in Sheffield, formed in the summer of 2006, and is a cousin club to the most successful women’s basketball club in the country, the City of Sheffield Hatters.
As all new teams must enter into the lowest division, the Saints will compete in EBL Division 4-North this year. Player-coached by Pete Olusoga and Garnet Gayle, backed up by a combination of seasoned veterans and new talent, the Saints are confident that they should push for honours in their inaugural season.
Our venue for this year is the recently completed basketball facility at All Saints School, Norfolk Park Road, and the Saints Basketball Club is already looking to develop strong links with the school by providing some of the older pupils with the opportunity to experience National League basketball. The Saints Basketball club also aims to forge links with the surrounding community and we are happy to trial players from other schools across the city who are perhaps leaving, or in their final year of school, and are looking for a good standard of club basketball.
The Saints are also supported by and have strong ties with Sheffield Hallam University, with Pete Olusoga taking on the role of head coach there for the second successive year. The Saints are keen to give Hallam players the chance to play National League basketball as well as competing in the BUSA (British Universities Sports Association) competition.
The Saints are a self-funded club run by volunteers and are always looking for potential sponsors. A wide range of sponsorship opportunities are available from sponsoring the match ball for a game, to individual player sponsorship for the season, to being the club’s major named sponsor. There are also opportunities to advertise in our match-day programmes and on the Saints’ website.
