City of Sheffield Saints faced the Falcons from Stockport in a tight game at All Saints on Saturday, with the home team in the lead throughout most of the match. The first quarter was close – the visitors led by 6 – 0, until John Stewart, fresh from a Junior Sharks game, started Saints scoring in the 4th minute with an and 1, Saints had a 7 – 1 run in the closing 90 seconds, and led by 1 point at the end of the first period. The second quarter was all Saints with 5 from 6 free throws, and 2 three pointers, the half time score was 33 – 24. The break gave the Falcons a second wind, as they played with more aggression, and they cut Saints lead to only 1 point at the end of the third. The final quarter remained tight until Chris Hackett found his offensive game, scored 4 from 4 free throws and 3 lay ups, and with three more 3 pointers , 1 each from Gary Bywater, Chris Law and Kingsley Ellmer, his 4th of the afternoon, gave Saints a comfortable looking win by 75 – 64.
